The mission of Isotope Robotics, FRC Team 9709, is to inspire and empower students in the Greater Richmond area through hands-on experience in robotics while fostering teamwork, creativity, and gracious professionalism.
We design and build competitive robots and compete against other teams across the region in a game that changes each year! Our team welcomes students interested in computer science, engineering, physics, math, graphic design, business, communications, and writing.
Isotope Robotics is open to students in grades 9-12 from the Greater Richmond area attending public schools, private schools, and homeschools.
Please visit the Student and Parent Portal for more information.
Where We Work
Our team meets at the Chesterfield County Central Library Makerspace located at 7051 Lucy Corr Boulevard
Chesterfield, VA Team 9709 is independent of the library. Nonetheless, by using the library’s space, the team and its members are required to abide by all library policies and procedures while on-site.
How Is the Team Run?
Isotope Robotics is a mentor-led, student-centered team. This means mentors actively share
their knowledge and experiences with the team members to foster intellectual growth and skill
development. While team decisions are a collaborative effort between students and mentors,
student members should understand that mentors have ultimate responsibility for ensuring the
success and safety of the team and may steer and/or override decisions for the overall benefit
of the team.
