About Me

Hi! I'm Carmen Schrack AKA Frau Schrack. I grew up in the Atlanta area and recently moved to Charlotte to join the South Meck World Languages team! I grew up speaking English and Spanish and upon starting college at the University of Georgia, I fell in love with German. There I received Bachelor's degrees in German, Spanish, and Linguistics and also received my Master's degree in German Literature from UGA as well. While in graduate school, I taught German. I spent the last year (before COVID!) teaching English in high schools in Austria and am excited to get another chance to teach German again!

Language-learning has truly been a life-long passion for me. Many people believe that they've missed their chance to learn a language when they were younger or that it is simply not possible for them. My personal mission is changing these misconceptions that we often allow to hold us back from our true potential in not only language-learning but all areas of life. It is my hope that I impart my students with a similar love of language-learning, but also the ability to see past these false barriers we tend to build in our own minds.

Outside of the classroom you can find me (well, not during COVID, that is) singing karaoke, lifting weights, going on walks with my cat Hamilton (yes -- cat!), and trying every coffee shop in town.
