My name is Wiebke Zywietz Ottinger. I am originally from Germany. I was born in Wuppertal and raised in Wuelfrath, Germany. Wuelfrath is a small city not far from the Duesseldorf/Cologne area, about 2 hours from the French border. My parents and my brother and his family still live there.
I studied Elementary Education at the Westfaelische Wilhelms Universitaet Muenster and at the Studienseminar in Aachen. I was always interested in other languages and did an internship at the Deutsche Schule Dublin, Irleand in 1998. I also worked as a German language assistant with the European Erasmus program in Drammen, Norway in 2000/2001. I received my Master's of Science in Early Childhood Education in 2003. I worked at a middle school in Aachen,Germany before coming to Charlotte. I have been working at Smith Language Academy/Waddell Language/SAIL for nineteen years. I love my school, my international colleagues and our students. Time flies by fast!
I came to Charlotte in 2003. I live with my husband Eric, our children Theodor and Anna-Elise and our Golden Retriever Annie. We are a SAIL Family: my husband teaches Japanese, ESL and Drama in the Middle School; Theodor is in Middle School in 8th grade; Anna-Elise attended K2 at SAIL. And even Annie understands a few German words like "Leckerli" (doggie treat).
Things Frau Ottinger loves: kids, dogs, the color blue, lots of coffee, books and traveling.
Viele Gruesse,
Frau Ottinger
