Greatest Apple Pie
This gorgeous crust can be used for any pie. Makes 2 crusts.

2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 cup shortening (or room temp. butter)
1/2 cup cold water
Cut shortening in flour with table knife till crumbly. Add water and mix with fork. Let set 5 minutes. Roll out dough.

3/4 - 1 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
1/2 - 1 tsp. cinnamon
dash nutmeg and salt
6 cups apples, sliced (or diced)
2 Tbsp. butter
1 9" unbaked double pie crust
- Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add apples and mix well.
- Fill pie plate with apple mixture and dot with butter.
- Cover with top crust.
- Bake at 400 for 55 minutes. Serve warm.
Variation: Cover with crumb topping instead of top crust.
