What is FAST?

The Franklin Alpine Ski Team (FAST) is a Co-Op Alpine ski racing team anchored by Franklin High School that also accepts skiers from neighboring schools including Oak Creek and Greendale.  Middle School students from these schools are also invited to practice with the team.  We compete with the Midwest High School Ski Conference which includes 28 teams from the greater Milwaukee area.    We accept novice to expert level skiers.  Racing experience is not required.  Practices are bi-weekly and there are 6 races during the competition season; three slalom events and three giant slalom events.  Early season practices begin with stance, balance and carving skills and then progress to running slalom and giant slalom courses. Focus points include racing technique, tactics, course inspection, sports psychology and FUN!

When & Where?

Practices start as soon as it gets cold enough for local ski areas to make snow, typically in early December.  Practices take place on Sunday and Monday evenings from 6-8pm at The Rock Snow Park in Franklin. Races are held on Wednesday or Thursday evenings at local ski areas such as The Rock, Alpine Valley, Little Switzerland, Holy Hill and Sunburst.  An early season fund raiser is held in October at the Rock.  Team members are asked to volunteer by helping wax and sharpen skis and snowboards during the Rock Snow Park ski swap.
