Hello,
For the River Street / Carl Barron Plaza Reconstruction project, we have developed a survey to ask people about how they use Carl Barron Plaza, and what they might want to see in the future. You may have seen staff in the Plaza this past Saturday for our outdoor engagement about existing conditions. We will be outside again in September getting input on the future design for the Plaza. Some of you have been interviewed by one of our consultants, Project for Public Spaces, to better understand the needs of the communities you work with and use of the Plaza.
Our new request is for your help in disseminating this electronic survey as you feel appropriate. It is expected to be open til the end of July. We recognize that our formats of engagements (boards and staff outside in the Plaza one day, public and Working Group meetings, an electronic survey), are not effective at reaching everyone. In particular, we know we struggle to connect with the current primary users of the square, which some of the rest of you engage with more directly. If any of you, our partners, have ideas about how we can better reach folks you work with or interact with, either by dedicating some of our staff time, modifying material, or otherwise, I very much welcome your suggestions. We are thinking about how to structure our September event to be as engaging to possible to all folks using or passing through the Plaza.

SUGGESTED LANGUAGE: As part of the River Street Reconstruction Project, the City of Cambridge is considering changes to Carl Barron Plaza that consider the many people and uses of the Plaza as well as public art, fixed and/or unfixed furniture, access, plantings, and landscaping. The design will also consider the complexity of the bus bays adjacent to the Plaza and people moving through the Plaza. Please provide your thoughts about the current conditions and future of the Carl Barron Plaza at this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CarlBarronPlaza.
