Is the Frankengeek kit easy to install?
Yes. It is designed for a novice to install in less than an hour with just a few basic tools. No electronics experience is required.
What type of battery do you recommend?
The input voltage range of the Frankengeek upgrade kit is 7-12V. 9V batteries are not recommended as they do not have the ability to deliver enough power for the audio amplifier. A good quality 9V may work for a short period of time to do a quick test.
For a cost effective solution, I recommend a 6xAA battery holder. You can purchase one from me or from Amazon. They use a 9V style snap connector, which I can supply with the battery holder. This is a great option for a basic pack upgrade.

A popular choice for a rechargeable pack is a blue brick or Talentcell 12V lithium pack. I prefer the Talentcell pack as the quality is known to be higher, and all the accessories are delivered with it. Since it’s packaged in a black shell, it’s easy to mount on the exterior of the pack motherboard, and it’s nearly invisible. Another advantage is that this battery pack can support additional electronic upgrades like a larger audio amplifier.
Can I use a wand light kit with the Frankengeek upgrade?
No. The GBFANS/Spongeface wand light kits are not compatible with the Frankengeek upgrade kit. A Frankengeek wand light kit is in development and should be available Summer 2020.
Can I use a bigger speaker with the Frankengeek kit?
The Frankengeek kit has an onboard 2W amplifier. You can connect a physically larger speaker with a low wattage rating. The speaker must have a 4 ohm (4Ω) impedance. A PC speaker would be a good choice and would give you a “larger” sound with more bass than the small speaker included with the Frankengeek kit. If you want to use a speaker with a higher wattage to get even more volume, you will need to add an external amplifier connected via the 3.5mm stereo jack on the Frankengeek cyclotron board.
What is the pinout of the Spirit wand connector?
Here is the correct wiring order of the Spirit wand.
It has been found that the Rubies packs may be slightly different. They have different colored wires and the order is different than the Spirit brand. You may need to change the order of the wires in the connector for proper operation.
