Teaching and mentoring are very close to my heart. At the university, this includes:
Lecturing in support of full professors (entomology, interaction ecology, biological control, behavioral ecology) and student assessment;
Supervision of practical courses in animal biology and ecology (including fieldwork);
Supervision of students' scientific projects as part of the Bachelor's program;
Supervision of pilot projects with bachelor's and master's students at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico (USA);
Member of several doctoral thesis support committees;
Mentoring of Master students and PhD students.
I hold a master's degree in science didactics and have extensive experience in secondary education. I have taught chemistry, physics and biology at various levels, in both general and technical streams. I gave science courses to aspiring beauticians, nurses, chemical technicians and others. I tried to implement novel teaching approaches such as integrating bioinformatics exercises (DNA barcoding, phylogeny) into my evolution courses, organizing molecular biology workshops at university and running seminar-type activities in the classroom. It is important for me to build bridges between secondary and higher education, and to show the creative and fun side of science. Using science in pop culture is a good way of achieving this.
I also take part in activities aimed at catching a wider audience to science, such as Printemps des sciences and Nuit des chercheurs.
