Welcome to Frontier: 12 AI-Created Works by Franco Littlelight.
First, thank you for coming. I really appreciate it.
Welcome to a collection that explores the fascinating and often debated world of AI-generated art. Here, you'll find twelve works born from the collaboration between human creativity and the boundless potential of artificial intelligence.
The realm of AI art is undoubtedly a landscape of passionate opinions. Some see it as a revolutionary tool, democratizing artistic expression and opening up new avenues for creativity. Others express concerns about its impact on traditional art forms and the very definition of artistry.
I stand firmly in the camp of those who embrace AI as a powerful and exciting medium. To me, AI art is not about replacing human artists, but rather about augmenting their capabilities. It's a partnership, a dance between human vision and algorithmic ingenuity. These works are a testament to the fact that AI can be a catalyst for imagination, a tool that allows us to explore uncharted creative territories.
This collection is not intended to provide definitive answers to the questions surrounding AI art. Instead, it's an invitation to experience its potential firsthand. I encourage you to engage with these pieces, to consider the interplay between human and machine, and to form your own conclusions about the future of art in the age of AI.
Enjoy the journey.
"For My Wife" 2023 by Franco Littlelight
I'm sorry, I'm not sure about the specifics, what engine or model or anything. I just started using AI when I made this, so I'm not even sure where it came from. I could looke it up I suppose, but it was so long ago, I don't want to go digging around the digital garage to find it. Sorry.
Abstract art, with its power to evoke emotions and interpretations beyond the literal, finds a unique voice in the realm of artificial intelligence. Much like Kandinsky, who famously claimed to 'hear' his paintings, AI algorithms can generate abstract compositions that seem to resonate with an unseen, almost auditory quality. These algorithmic creations, born from the abstract logic of code, can produce forms and patterns that feel like visual music, echoing the rhythms and harmonies of a world beyond our immediate perception. Just as Kandinsky's art aimed to translate inner sensations into visual form, AI-generated abstract art invites us to consider whether these creations possess a hidden language, a sensory experience that transcends traditional visual understanding. It challenges us to ask: Can we 'hear' the algorithms' silent symphony, and what new dimensions of artistic expression are unlocked when we explore this synesthetic interplay between code and perception?
Below are full-scale images of my works along with a short commentary on each of them. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or works of your own you'd like to discuss. I am currently reaching out to fellow creatives to create a website where you can view some of their best works. You can follow me on Instagram, I'll be sure to post a link below.
Connections
Franco Littlelight
2023
All the works featured here were done in the fall of 2023 up to the summer of 2024. Connections was one of the first works I created when I was comfortable enough with the process of using AI. I don't want to write too much about these works, I just want you to experience them for yourself, and take from it what you will.
Paradoglia
Franco Littlelight
2024
Notice what looks like a signature on the lower right corner. When I see this, I like to think an AI signed it, to show it was the AI who created this work.
For My Wife
Franco Littlelight
2023
The AI created a heart right in the middle of the work. I am not sure if it was an intentional act or if it was by accident. In either case, like picking a flower and giving it to your sweetheart, I dedicated this piece for my wife.
I Went to New York City Once
Franco Littlelight
2024
One of the engines I used often employed vivid colors. It reminded me of a fantastic piece of graffiti I saw on the side of a bridge (not sure which bridge) when I went to New York City once, ages ago.
GUUU! Cheyenne Colors
Franco Littlelight
2023
A local school uses teal and black as their school colors, and here the AI used those colors to create an amazing image of a globe. Here's a tribute to my many Cheyenne relatives and friends. Oh, and the word "GUUU" is an expression of acknowledgement in the general American Indian social landscape (often used as an incredulous way). Appropriate here, as I am a Crow Indian; Cheyenne and Crow have been, historically, enemies.
Is It Van "GO" or Van "GOFF"?
Franco Littlelight
2024
I think all the world knows Van Gogh's "Starry Night". This one took a long time to make, and you'll have hours to really appreciate the AI's finished work here; it's been one my favorite pieces. Also, I've pronounced it Van GO, until someone corrected me and said it was pronounced Van GOFF, so now I just say Van (garbled mumbling).
Classy and Rich
Franco Littlelight
2023
I am in my yellow period. Were I to have a favorite color, it would be Goldenrod, Dandelion, or Ochre Yellow. The AI understood the assignment when I fed it those colors. The other colors were completely chosen by the AI, really a collaborative piece.
It's A Fake Account
Franco Littlelight
2023
The process was the same, but I used two different AI to create this and there was quite a few hiccups, but the interpretations eventually synced and created a great piece, one you can find something you can take for yourself.
Mama Look What I Can Do
Franco Littlelight
2024
Among the last I made at the end of Spring 2024, this piece made me so proud the first thing I thought was to show mom. But, we buried mom years ago, and for a brief moment, I was so happy with this piece that I forgot. No one can imagine the mornings after losing someone precious, and this piece took me back to those terrible mornings.
Falling Into the Abyss
Franco Littlelight
2023
Among the first pieces. I was so engrossed in creating I would be up all hours of the night creating and sharing with other creatives, it was a really fun time. So many ideas were exchanged and we were all so excited, there was a lot of good energy being exchanged. That very same energy is still very present and powerful. I feel like I'm still falling into that abyss.
The Cosmic Ocean
Franco Littlelight
2023
This is one of my favorites. This is an iteration of "Connections", featured on this page, except I wanted express more connections. I don't know how the AI decided to use stars to express this, but I was happy with it; happy enough to share it with you all.
How Far
Franco Littlelight
2023
I'd like to leave you with a final piece from the beginning of my journey in AI Art. This piece is really where it started. It's a Kandinsky-inspired piece. Although I'm sure Kandinsky isn't as famous as Van GOFF, but a greater number probably know who he is than don't.
Thank you for coming. I appreciate your viewership, and I hope you will recommend this page to your friends, family, enemies, landlords, leaders, followers, car dealers, students, teachers, politicians, idols, priests, and pretty much everyone you know. Show as many people as you can and if you come across someone who has already been here, you might become friends.
Also, I'm not an AI myself; I'm a flesh and blood human being. You can get ahold me me on Facebook, Instagram, email, phone, in-person, and many other means.
I'll be sure to list, on this page, how you can find me on socials.
