To begin with, I would like to say that I do not see any reason to be concerned about my ability to do the job. I have over 10 years experience as a web designer, whose interests extend and include creative writing. I have worked with clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups, and I have been extremely successful. I understand that you are looking for a solution, but I fear I may not be the right person to offer it to you...
However, I do want to assure you that I do thoroughly enjoy my work. It is certainly demanding, and I love a challenge, but I will do my absolute best and I believe that my experience and education will certainly help me to do a good job.
Are you required to act in agary manner? Is that an actual prerequisite for the job?
I work very hard and I thoroughly enjoy my work. Of course, there are many other people who might be applying for the same position, and they will all have a great voice. However, just like I say, I believe that I am the right person to deliver the advertising content and service that you need, and I feel very strongly about doing the job right.
Identify Your Strengths as Well as Weaknesses
Another thing that you should identify is the top seven skills you possess, and you should make sure that you focus on using some of them in the role. Of course, the top seven skills are going to be the easier ones to identify, while the others will require more effort in order to be convincing.
Take some time and think about which of the top seven skills you feel are going to be the most important for this role. Then, think about how you are going to use each of these skills in your role. Try to get a big picture of the role in order to focus on which of these skills is going to be the most important.
Are you working in the wrong industry?
One of the top 7 skills that you are going to need to have as an Advertising Account Executive is to have strong people skills. This is going to be absolutely key for a number of reasons, but one of the main reasons is that you are going to be working with all different types of people and you need to be able to relate to them.
You are going to be dealing with senior executives, which will require a great deal of management skills. You will also need to be able to deal with people at different level, from juniors to senior executives. With these different levels of people you will need to be able to manage them all, which will again require leadership skills.
Think about the type of person you are going to be running your department. What sort of people do they expect to be working with? Are they likely to be upwardly mobile, or are they more likely to be stuck with the same team and perform badly?
Are their likely to be prospects, or are they likely to be older and less mobile? Companies might look for the following traits:
• The ability to manage "Lowerraver" talent. These are mid-level people with limited mobility.• They tend to stick with one job for life, unless they are changed by technological developments.• They need a capital environment or framework to prosc Wit and creativity.• They tend to be "locally" in the sense that they see themselves as part of the local community• They have a flexibility about where they are willing to travel to and how far.• Their work is likely to be more emotionally charged than the work of someone who is managing a metropolitan office.
You would need to have a working knowledge of these people, and a appreciation for the way they work. If the position involves some contact with these people, then you should certainly do a little research into their interests and needs before you start applying for jobs.
The ability to be a successful advertising account executive, then, is likely to involve the necessary skills plus a certain amount of talent depending upon the individual's approach to the job. Some qualities might be essential, while others might be desirable.
