Purpose

The purpose of the Francis Bacon Academy is to encourage lifelong learning through the reading and study of good books. As the essayist Francis Bacon encouraged, "Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested;"

As learners in the academy, we assist each other by pointing out the good reads which we have found, then dialogue  with our colleagues about the books under their study. We then encourage the writing of thoughts about that reading to help all of our learning become more exact.
