Welcome to my personal page!
I am an Assistant Professor of Economics (Tenure-Track, RtdB) at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padova. I am an applied economist and my research focuses on the economic, demographic and political impact of both regular and refugees migration on hosting countries. My recent work also includes the analysis, through US historical data, of migrants inventors' location choice during the Age of Mass Migration, and the study of the effect of culture, specifically language and its structure, on economic behaviour.
In addition to migration and culture, my research agenda includes a project in the field of the economics of education - focusing on how Italian high school students choose their university field of study - and a work on the economics of drug trafficking and violence perpetrated by criminal organizations in Colombia.
I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Padua in November 2017. I then shortly worked as a research assistant in the Department of Political Economy at King's College, London. From June 2018 until February 2023, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Economics, Management and Statistics (DEMS) at the University of Milan-Bicocca. In March 2023, I joined the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Padova as untenured Assistant Professor of Economic Policy (Rtd-A).
