"Education is the point at which we decide whether we love the world enough to assume responsibility for it”
Hannah Arendt
I am a philosopher working at the intersection of phenomenology, philosophy of psychiatry, and medical humanities, and it's a position I've come to occupy through years of bridging two worlds that don't always speak to each other easily.
My research draws on continental philosophical traditions, principally phenomenology and hermeneutics, and puts them into direct conversation with clinical and empirical questions in mental health, psychopathology, and neuroscience.
I am the Director of the PhenoLab an international laboratory for phenomenology and mental health, officially recognised as organisational partner at the Collaborating Centre for Values-Based Practice at St Catherine's College, University of Oxford. Through the work of the PhenoLab, I developed a distinctive transdisciplinary programme that moves fluidly between conceptual analysis and applied clinical contexts, generating frameworks for understanding lived experience in mental health, psychiatric diagnosis, embodiment and language, and intersubjectivity.
