On May 4th, I stopped by a stream near my house that connects a swamp to the sudbury river. The water is home to large populations of Pond snails, Curved Leafed Water weed, Duckweed, and Cattails. I gathered some of each except for the cattails and added them to my aquarium. The Pond snails looked drastically differently to my current Bladder Snails. Pond snails are much larger and produce differently looking egg masses. The pond snails layed eggs INSTANTLY.
The duckweed spread across the surface of my tank nicely, causing it's signature green blanket. The Waterweed also seems to be doing well.
