I collected some germinating acorns in early April, hoping to grow them into oak trees. It is going well so far. One acorn is a few weeks behind the other, but both are healthy. Below is a quick time-lapse of the furthest ahead acorn.

For an oak trees first few years of life, they do not produce acorns, flowers, or any other reproductive function, but the older trees of it's species are flowering at this time of year. They hang dusty, yellow catkins from their branches, that will hopefully pollinate microscopic female flowers, causing acorns.
I planted the Sapling outside on the 12th, Because the moss and excessive watering had made a great spot for fungus gnats to lay their eggs, and maggots had infested the flower pot. The maggots were also metamorphosing into more gnats, and created a gnat problem throughout our house. I would have kept the tree indoors for few more weeks if not for the gnats.
I also moved the second one outside, even though it was already withering up.
