For some reason (Maybe lack of vegetation) I have been finding an unusual amount of animal bones, scat and other signs this month. I am going to put information below explaining all of the notable ones. This page can be used as a guide, as well, to help you identify common signs of animals.
Deer Scapula
The "Shoulder Bone" of a Whitetail deer found at Carol Getchell Reservation still attached to some grizzle. It was most likely carried away from the carcass by Raccoons or Coyotes.
Deer Vertebra
an Axis vertebra (second segment down from skull base) found at juniper hill, most likely carried away from the carcass by coyotes or raccoons.
Owl Pellet
Owls and Hawks regurgitate bone and fur after eating rodents. Probably left by a Great Horned Owl, this was found near the Weston aqueduct. This particular sample was only made of fur.
Fox Scat
Also found at Carol Getcell, It is possible that I found coyote scat, but It was found very close to a fox den and is clumpy. I can rule out domestic dogs because of the tiny bone fragments and rodent fur.
Deer Scat Mass
Found at nobscot, 2 clumps of frozen deer scat. Waste is almost completely composed of woody plant matter.

Mantis Egg Sac
After devouring her mate, a female praying mantis lays an egg sac in the heavily logged portion of Callahan State Park. After hatching, the egg sac was still clung to a sweet fern this winter.

At Carol Getchell Reservation, Many trees have bite marks, holes, and have even fallen down completely due to beavers feeding on
