Local Events and Fairs in Framingham, MA 

Framingham Friday Night Concert Series

This popular free music series brings the community together throughout the summer. In recent years, the series has moved to different parks across the city to make live music more accessible to residents.

  • What to Expect: Concerts run on Friday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and feature a wide range of musical genres, including rock, pop, funk, country, and alternative. Families are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics to enjoy a relaxing evening.

  • Special Stars & Stripes Celebration: The concert series often kicks off with a special "Stars & Stripes Over Framingham" event, which serves as the city's Independence Day celebration. This particular event includes live music from multiple bands and a major fireworks display over Farm Pond.


Framingham Farmers' Market

A weekly staple for the community, the Framingham Farmers' Market provides access to fresh, local food and supports regional vendors.

  • What to Expect: The market is held on Thursday afternoons from mid-June through early October on the Framingham Centre Common. In addition to a variety of vendors selling produce, baked goods, and other local products, the market also features a selection of food trucks. A Taste of Framingham (now Taste of MetroWest)

This highly-anticipated event is the signature fundraiser for the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce.

It is a ticketed event where attendees can sample a wide variety of cuisines and beverages. The event provides a festive atmosphere for the community to discover new culinary gems while supporting local businesses.


Framingham Centre Common's Annual Holiday Tree Lighting

More than just a lighting ceremony, this event has evolved into a full-fledged holiday block party that marks the start of the festive season.

  • What to Expect: The celebration takes place on a Friday evening in early December. The festivities often include free hot cocoa, treats, and a sing-along led by local scout troops. Santa and Mrs. Claus make a grand entrance on a Framingham Fire Engine to light the tree. Other activities often include a storywalk, free books for children, and photo opportunities with a green screen provided by the Framingham Public Library. The event is centered on Union Avenue, which is closed for the occasion.


The Framingham Independence Day Celebration

Officially known as "Stars & Stripes Over Framingham," this event is the city’s major summer celebration.

  • What to Expect: Held at Farm Pond Park, this free event features live musical performances and a grand fireworks display launched from a barge on Farm Pond. The celebration also includes numerous food trucks offering a variety of savory and sweet options. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to enjoy the evening. Parking is provided at designated public lots, and the event is a well-attended community tradition.
