MediaPlayerLite allows you to enhance, decode and accelerate a broad span of movie formats like x.264 with GPU assisted acceleration and image quality enhancing. The MediaPlayerLite player does not require many system resources than the rest of the video media players to run smoothly. This is a low PC resources windows media player that runs on slower machines with older CPUs. Modern graphics card offer the possibility to decode partially or completely a video stream using DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA), in order to reduce CPU usage dramatically. MPC-HC includes an embedded video decoder that uses this technology, to decode x.264, H.264 and VC-1 with hardly any CPU time required.

Media Player Classic (MPC), Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC), and Media Player Classic - Black Edition (MPC-BE) are a family of free and open-source, compact, lightweight, and customizable media players for 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Windows. The original MPC, along with the MPC-HC fork, mimic the simplistic look and feel of Windows Media Player 6.4, but provide most options and features available in modern media players. Variations of the original MPC and its forks are standard media players in the K-Lite Codec Pack and the Combined Community Codec Pack.

Supported media formats within the latest builds of MPC-HC and MPC-BE have been considerably expanded compared to the original MPC, as these builds are bundled with iterations of libavcodec and libavformat. MPC-HC version 1.7.0 and newer utilize LAV filters,[32] while MPC-BE uses FFmpeg directly.[33] Consequently, they support all formats from those libraries.

In addition to DirectShow, MPC can also use the QuickTime, RealPlayer, and SHOUTcast codecs and filters (if installed on the computer) to play their native files.[35] Though some of these files may play without the external codecs or filters installed. Alternatively, QuickTime Alternative and Real Alternative can be used in place of their player installations for expanded support of their respective file formats.

VLC media player is open-source freeware created by VideoLAN. VLC supports a large variety of multimedia file formats. Unlike most media players, VLC happens to have a built-in conversion tool, so it can be used as both player and a video converter. This article covers ways to convert MOV to MP4 in VLC on Macintosh and Windows computers.

Yes, VLC plays MOV files without problems. However, there might be some issues concerning the older MOV files encoded with the Apple QuickTime codec. VLC player might not support these files if you try to open them on Windows. VLC plays .mov files encoded with the H.264 video and AAC audio codecs.

The player supports all common video and audio file formats available for playback. Most important thing is that we're completely free, 0 spyware, 0 ads and no user tracking. It has a built in DVD player with real-time zoom, support for AVI subtitles, QuickTime and RealVideo support (requires QuickTime and/or Real Player); built-in MPEG2/SVCD/DVD codec. Media Player Classic was created and is currently maintained by a programmer named "Gabest". This is a mod of Media Player Classic design for home cinema usage.

BlazeDVD Pro is not only a powerful region free player for Windows 10, but also a comprehensive media player support video files, pictures and songs from computer, portable devices, YouTube and Facebook.

I've created a WAV file that loops perfectly, as verified by using Loop Play in the Audacity audio editor. I want to keep the file small and have my media player loop it rather than having the file repeat its content over and over. I used to use Media Player Classic for this, but I just tried with the latest version and it pauses slightly before looping (just like standard WMP, VLC, and other clients I've tried). Are there any media players that will do this properly with no intervening gap? Opening it in Audacity and manually starting a loop is more hassle than I'm interested in doing every time I want to listen.

Mplayer is a media player for Linux and Windows that does gapless playback (no silence between tracks) including in loop mode. On the command line this is achieved with the -loop 0 option (infinite loop).

MPlayer is a movie player which runs on many systems (see the documentation). It plays most MPEG/VOB, AVI, Ogg/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV, QT/MOV/MP4, RealMedia, Matroska, NUT, NuppelVideo, FLI, YUV4MPEG, FILM, RoQ, PVA files, supported by many native, XAnim, and Win32 DLL codecs. You can watch VideoCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivx, DivX 3/4/5, WMV and even H.264 movies.

Why should I install 3ivx?

The 3ivx decoder plays back most MPEG-4 files (including MP4, M4A, 3GP and MOV files) with MPEG-4 AAC Audio and MPEG-4 Video (such as DivX 3, 4 and 5, Apple MPEG-4, Philips MPEG-4 and XviD) using Windows Media Player or other compatible players. The Audio Decoder can play back MPEG-4 Multi-Channel High Efficiency AAC including audio encoded by Nero AAC and iTunes.

The 3ivx encoder produces industry-leading compact high quality MPEG-4 Audio and Video and is distributed as a plug-in for QuickTime as well as plug-ins for Video for Windows and DirectShow.

This allows you to encode MPEG-4 Audio and Video in AVI, MOV or MP4 files with the encoding application of your choice.

AIW Player :

AIW Player is designed to be a fast and smart media center. At the moment AIW Player is under heavy development but it has 5 main functions:

A very low resource demanding video player with tons of features.

A TV viewing program. AIW Player requires a TV-card with wdm drivers installed. It should work with every card out there as long as it's drivers are fully compatible with DirectX9.

A FM tuning program. AIW Player requires a radio capture card (tv-cards with FM tuning support, or specialized FM tuning cards) with wdm drivers installed.

A TV recording program (capture to file). It requires a TV-card and wdm drivers installed.

A video broadcasting server. This means that you can use your TV-card to broadcast (share) your favorite TV programs with your LAN friends and even on the Internet. Imagine watching SciFi live in Asia or SkyOne in U.S. When in broadcasting mode AIW Player becomes a chat server and users can connect to it with WANChat to chat about, get and set channels.

Also, AIW Player supports broadcasting from video files on your harddrive and from your tv-card FM stations.

Also AIW Player offers interconnected features. For example when watching a movie and you want to quickly tune to a news station for just a few minutes you may simply do that and when you're done you can quickly resume your movie with only one click - no more changing from software to software, overlay conflicts and so on...

If you've ever experienced the frustration of attempting to play a media file, only to be confronted with an error message or faulty playback (wrong speed, missing audio, jerky picture) you'll appreciate this compilation of codecs, media splitters and filters. Once this easy-to-install package is on your computer, you'll find that 99.9% of current formats are supported -- though you may still need the appropriate player for some protected media.

The Media Player Codec Pack is a comprehensive collection of codecs and media tools that will allow you to play virtually any modern media format. The codecs are small pieces of software that encode and decode media files so that the player knows how to interpret the data and display the file. Media splitters can help resolve playback problems such as no audio on a video playback, while you can use the filters to remove noise and artifacts from audio and video streams.

The Media Player Codec Pack allows you to play most DVDs, SVCDs, XCDs and VCDs on your home computer. Supported video formats include AAC, AC3, APE, DTS, FLAC, IT, MO3, MOD, MTM, OGG Vorbis, S3M, TTA, UMX, WV and XM. Supported audio formats include 3GPP, AVI, DAT, FLV, MKV, MP4, MPEG, MPG, OGM, PS, TS and VOB. All resolutions including SD (Standard Definition) and HD (High Definition) are supported. Optional extras are available to allow you to play Blu-Ray discs under Windows 7 and Vista.

Pro's: Comprehensive, easy to install

Con's: Does not include some old or obsolete formats.
