Ministry & Mission

Dixon Community Gardens:

First Presbyterian provides its nearby property for a garden for raised bed plantings, pollinator pockets, a butterfly memorial, and a native plant area. Church members and gardeners from the community comprise a supervisory board.  

Stronghold: 

We support the mission of Stronghold Camp and Retreat Center by providing tuition assistance to campers and helpful friendship to camp counselors.  

Special Offerings:

We participate three times yearly in Presbyterian U.S.A. offerings:  One Great Hour of Sharing in the spring, World Communion in the early fall, and Christmas Joy during Advent. These offerings support the mission efforts of the wider church.

Prayer Wall:

We invite community members to pause, offer a personal prayer, and choose a memory ribbon to tie to the prayer wall. We hope that neighbors find peace in standing where others in the need of prayer have also stood.

Meals on Wheels: 

Church members deliver meals to homebound neighbors several times a year during two-week periods.  

Habitat for Humanity:

Church members participate in building the annual Habitat house in Dixon. We invite other Dixon churches to join our hosting a housewarming shower for its new residents.   

We also support special activities of other community groups as needed.
