Circle Time, or "Group Time" as many of our pupils use on their schedules, is a familiar part of each of their daily routines. During "Morning Group", pupils listen to songs and discuss daily topics such as the day of the week, the month, the season, and the weather. It is also a good time to bring up important topics or issues that need to be addressed in the classroom as it is run early in the day, most pupils are at their most alert, and it gives them time to process information.
Below, I have attached a simple interactive slideshow of what a basic Morning Group might look like in Foxfield Special School. Each teacher will normally put their own stamp on these to suit the age, level and understanding of their pupils. Developing an individualised Morning Group at home may be a good way to start your child's day, cover the topics mentioned above, and discuss pressing issues or new topics.
The example below have some songs included that many of our pupils are familiar with. You may want to adapt them to suit your own child.
