August 2022

The days are counting down to the beginning of school! Are YOU ready for Fourth Grade? Your welcome letters should be arriving in your mailboxes soon so be on the lookout for them! Included is a school supply list- which I have also posted above! I also have an Amazon WishList that is open year-round and includes many items we use all the time in Grade 4! Have I mentioned how excited I am to welcome you back?! But, for now, I'm going to finish that book I REALLY wanted to read this summer, and swim a few more times before we say hello! I hope you enjoy the last days of summer vacation, too!

Wow, what a busy October! Fourth Graders have been busy beginning to learn multi digit multiplication, how to build and sustain a reading life, writing about small moments, and learning about the continents and oceans. Our biggest project for this moment was Pumpkin Globes- and what an accomplishment they are! See our photos above!

November will be here and gone before we know it! We will have information regarding Parent Teacher Conferences coming out to you soon!

Hello Fourth Grade Families!

October has begun and so has the cold season! IF your child has a sniffly nose, sore throat, etc. and they typically have allergies in the fall, it is okay to continue sending them to school. There are a lot of sniffles today at school! We may have a cold going around as well- I am not sure but something to think about. We have been cleaning extra and trying to wash our hands more often but as you know, it is inevitable. Please remember to let myself and the office know when you know your child is going to be absent. Email is fine. If you are unsure as to whether or not to send your child, use the symptom screening tool found on our website.

With October in full swing, you will begin to see us practicing multiplication and division, reading book club books, and continuing to expand our vocabulary. I am continuing to set goals of following directions the first time, being responsible, and being kind to each other.

We have some exciting things happening soon- 4th graders can now join Chorus, Band, Art Club, and Stitch Club (coming soon!). We will have another reward day (movie day!) this Thursday!

I blinked and summer is gone! Welcome to 4th GRADE! I am so excited to welcome you to our classroom and get started. We are going to learn A LOT this year and have a lot of fun at the same time!

I have spent my summer doing many, many things! I ALWAYS grow a big vegetable garden and tend my flower gardens. This year, I added FIVE baby ducklings to my ever growing "farm". We bought a pop up camper that we re-did and we had so much fun camping for our first time in Bar Harbor! I hiked, swam, spent a lot of time in the sunshine, and read a lot of books!

Speaking of reading, now is a good time to get back into the habit of reading if you took a break over the summer. I will expect you to read 20 minutes a day Monday-Thursday when we are in school. I also hope you've been practicing your math facts! Get outside these last few HOT days of August and I'll see you September 1st!
