Here I wanted to paint myself looking through different versions of me and trying to see which will make me feel most like me in that particular moment. I make a reference to my sexuality with the closet and also the stereotypical gender norms that come with different clothing. I’m carrying an outfit that’s full black to highlight the ambiguity of my identity and how I’m learning to embrace not everything is linear or black and white.

In this specific piece, I wanted to capture the imagination and curiosity that you have inside of you. I wanted to capture that inner child most have and how beautiful it is to embrace curiosity to the unlikely and peculiar.

I made this piece in honor of my half sister who had lost her mom. This piece is a highlight of our culture, specifically Dia de los Muertos. I wanted to show how even though she has passed, she will continue to reach out her heart to others and be there for my sister. My sister is someone I look up to heavily, and I believe that her love for her mother has shown in her life and the way she loves.

Here I wanted to create this expression of wonder and surprise as the subject looks up from this map that leads to an unknown treasure in this fantasy world. The use of a more traditional tool to create this piece supports this world I made for this piece.

When I drew this dancer and gave her multiple arms, I wanted her to look fluid and those arms add to the beauty of dancing. The focus is on the women dancing and the way their arms move.

In this piece, I wanted to make up this silly world that mimics our own. The top CEOs, in this case the frog fixing their tie, caring about appearances. The workers, the flies, who get eaten and hurt by the frogs are carrying their suitcases.

I wanted to illustrate the pain that comes with learning something that alters your reality to the point where you wish you didn’t have the ability to see in the first place.
