Foul Fiend Theatre Troupe began in 2023, following the success of co-founders Connor Bullock and Zoe Gray with NYU Shakespeare in the Square's King Lear. Seeking to continue to harness the lively spontaneity of outdoor theatre while maintaining a high level of craft, Foul Fiend Theatre Troupe was born. 

With the aim of staging innovative and daring productions of classics and original works while keeping them entirely free of charge to the public, Foul Fiend began amassing a repertoire that encompassed Shakespeare, Chekhov, Ibsen, Ionesco, and new plays and musicals from emerging artists across New York. The mission was to perform elevated work in spaces that anyone in NYC could stumble across: imaginary worlds on rooftops, inside your favorite bar, and tucked into an alcove of your favorite park.

Since its conception, the troupe has expanded to include more than 100 artists' work: musicians, designers, experimental and classical writers, dancers, and more. Foul Fiend is committed to providing an artistic community to any who seek it and cultivating artistic passions that may not typically be showcased.

Foul Fiend seeks to bring classics to unconventional stages and provide a home to new works that expand, break, and invent theatrical grounds. We emphasize work that challenges and dares, takes on our current moment, and looks not to what theatre has done but what it has yet to do.
