Visualize Black Joy Clockwise
What is Faces of the Mecca you may ask? It is a student led photography project that will feature Howard students and produced as a calendar. When you search for images of people in a variety of settings, there is a lack of black people shown. However, when you look up black people in general, mostly negative, inaccurate or undesirable imagery is shown. In order for you to find the type of image you're looking for you would have to be descriptive down to the T.
Our mission is to increase the amount of black representation in the media. This calendar will allow for black people to be represented in a vast areas of life throughout the months of the year while also paying homage to DC and HBCU culture on the illustrious Howard University campus.
The official project is available for purchase. All proceeds will go to props, equipment, and people who fufilled a role on the project.
A simple act of sending a post to a friend or reposting on your story will be greatly appreciated! This will further push our message to the masses.
