Kids Day to Parks is a national event that originated with the National Parks Trust. It celebrates spring and encourages families to enjoy the outdoors. Locally, this FREE family event is sponsored by Friends of St. Edward State Park and held on the third Saturday in May.
Note: The event is always free, but parking requires a Discover Pass.
Restoration of the native plants from previous plantings and the addition of new ones along with plant tags and QR codes for park visitors to learn more. The NPLG is located in the center of the North Parking area. This has been a collaborative project with the Environmental Education and Research Center (EERC) now located in the gym annex.
Recruiting volunteers who can be available to help park staff with trail repairs as well as removing invasive plants. In May 2023, the latest project was to replace an older boardwalk on one of the heavily used unnamed trails bringing it up to the same standard as other boardwalks in the park. Materials for this upgrade were generously provided by Plywood Supply.
