Beginner Birding Walk - 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22nd
Meet at the restrooms near the playground
Join our park naturalist for a beginner birding walk on the Orchard Loop Trail – we’ll bring the binoculars! The program will last about an hour and is a great opportunity to learn birding tips and resources, practice identifying common birds, and ask questions about Washington State Parks. The trail is 0.5-miles long, unpaved, and has 80 ft. of elevation change. Don’t forget to wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Best for teens and adults, but families with children are welcome.
Junior Ranger — Explorer Hike - 1 p.m. Saturday, July 22nd
Meet south of the playground
Junior Rangers join us for an adventurous hike exploring the park! Saint Edward’s naturalist will lead the group on an unpaved, 0.5-mile hike along the Orchard Loop Trail, noting interesting sights, sounds, and smells along the way. Best for ages 6-12. Junior Ranger supplies will be available for anyone who would like to join the program.
Skulls, Tracks, and Scats - 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29th
Table set-up near the playground
Drop in between 11 a.m. and noon to learn how to identify different animal skulls, tracks, and scats from our park naturalist. Test your animal tracking skills by identifying the mystery animals. Best for ages 5+.
Junior Ranger — Animal Tracking - 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29th
Meet south of the playground
Join us for a 30-minute program to learn about animal tracks, the foot or paw prints that animals leave behind. You will get to make your own plaster track and go on a hunt for animal tracks nearby! Best for kids aged 7-12. Junior Ranger books will be available for youth who would like to play in, learn about, and protect Washington State Parks.
