Who We Are

Living History * Primitive Camping * Black Powder Shoots

The Fort Union Muzzle Loader Association is a family-oriented club dedicated to area history, preserving and promoting the sport of shooting traditional muzzleloading firearms, and encouraging the safe and knowledgeable handling of those firearms.

We are involved with the promotion and advancement of the historic sites of the Missouri-Yellowstone confluence area, particularly Fort Union Trading Post NHS, which was a prominent fur trading post, 1828-1867. We volunteer our time at Fort Union during the annual Rendezvous in June, Living History Weekend in September, plus various smaller events throughout the year.

Shoots for members are held in the area. Our shoots are informal. We believe that fun and camaraderie is more important than competition.
