FortiGate SD-WAN, FortiGate 40F, and Silver Peak SD-WAN
FortiGate SD-WAN, FortiGate 40F, and Silver Peak SD-WAN
In this article, we'll compare the FortiGate SD-WAN, FortiGate 40F, and Silver Peak SD-WAN. If you're planning to implement SD-WAN in your company, this is an excellent resource. We'll go over each product's features and drawbacks, and discuss the benefits and shortcomings of each. Ultimately, the decision on which device is right for your organization will come down to the size and scope of your network.
FortiGate SD-WAN
FortiGate SD-WAN is a highly customizable solution for companies looking to simplify network management. SD-WAN is a network connectivity solution that lets companies share resources across multiple networks. Fortinet sd wan Orchestrator is an application that monitors the performance of SD-WAN networks and is supported on several FortiGates. It is available in the FortiManager and is compatible with a number of FortiGate models.
FortiGate 40F
The FortiGate SD WAN provides network access control and application-level visibility. FortiGate supports the use of traffic shaping and bandwidth policing, ensuring that your traffic flows at the right speed. The FortiGate GUI allows you to customize the configuration to meet your needs. It supports various protocols, including TCP-echo, OSPF, and IPv4 BGP. You can even configure custom application profiles for your SD-WAN members.
FortiGate NGFW
The FortiGate NGFW SD LAN is a highly customizable firewall that combines the benefits of a NGFW with SD-WAN. It allows users to configure rules that orchestrate traffic to and from their network. The FortiGate SD-WAN firewall is also compatible with FortiSwitch, a service that connects different FortiGate products. Both FortiGate NGFW and FortiSwitch can be configured via a GUI.
Silver Peak SD-WAN
With Silver Peak SD-WAN, complex private network topologies can be easily adapted to its capabilities. Its WAN optimization technology is renowned for its high agility and no compromise on signal reliability. The Silver Peak SD-WAN solution also comes with vast libraries of configuration settings for different traffic types. Users can enjoy better application performance and user experience with this WAN solution. Here are some benefits of this SD-WAN:
Configuration
In order to configure Fortigate SD WAN, users must first enable the feature. To do this, open the Network section of the SD-WAN console. On the Settings tab, choose the Advanced option. In the Network tab, set the Interface State to "Enable." To add two WAN interfaces, select the "Volume Tab". Once the tab is selected, click the metric you want to monitor.
Monitoring
FortiGate's SD-WAN Monitor allows you to view various performance metrics, including link quality and packet loss for each member interface. The device also displays various measurement parameters, such as packet loss, latency, and jitter. Whenever a member interface is added or removed from the routing table, FortiGate generates a system event. The system events help you investigate route failovers. The following sections detail how to monitor FortiGate SD-WAN performance.
Reporting
If you're looking for a way to manage your SD-WAN network, the Reporting feature of the FortiGate product is the perfect tool for you. This report uses the enhanced FortiGate SD-WAN logs to display the utilization of your SD-WAN by rules, applications, and users. It can also be used to monitor and report on network performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Latency and Packet Loss.
