STEM: Where Representation Matters

Mission of the project

Research current ESSER funding allocations to simulate possible effects on STEM education and pursuit of careers for students from historically marginalized backgrounds. Use this information to create:

  1. Interactive collection of STEM programs,

  2. Family and school rubrics for evaluating effectiveness of STEM programming,

  3. Launch a STEM program for Black girls ages 10-18.

Effort 1

Research how current ESSER funding has been spent on STEM programming and geared towards students from historically marginalized communities.

Effort 2

How can we measure the impact and effectiveness of ESSER funding on enrichment (including after-school/summer) STEM programs?

Create a research based rubric for reviewing STEM programming.

Effort 3

Use this data to create an interactive repository of programs and resources for students, families, and schools

Effort 4

Launch a STEM-based program to meet the needs of districts, community, and students from historically marginalized communities, that could be scaled across multiple communities.
