This is our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year!
PURPOSE:
The Corn Dog Stand was started in 1995 to raise money to help families with competition fees. We wanted to give the dancers as many opportunities to compete as possible and realized that this will help everyone financially. We were very fortunate to have the trailer and “secret recipe” donated by a friend who saw the benefit.
To plan for a successful season, we need to know upfront who will be participating to be sure that all shifts will be covered. It is an OPTIONAL fundraiser, which we highly recommend to each family as it offsets the expenses of competition. It has worked out very well in the past for the families who took part. Competition can be quite expensive if you have to pay the fees out of your pocket. An average fee is $45-50 per dancer, per dance, per competition. If you do not participate in this fundraiser, you must pay all of your competition fees. By participating, the majority of the group fees are covered. There will likely be some fees towards the end of the season as the money from the fundraiser may run out. In the past, the stand has been able to cover the majority of all group competition fees during a regular season.
DEFINITIONS:
Primary dances are the tap and jazz dances that are taught in regularly scheduled company classes throughout the year. These dances serve as competition dances as well as recital dances.
Secondary dances are additional dances that are selected by an audition. There is an additional fee to learn/rehearse secondary dances. Secondary dances rehearse on Friday or Saturday.
Group Dances are competition dances that are classified as Small Groups, Large Groups, or Lines. Corn Dog Stand revenue does NOT pay for solos, duets, trios, or admin surcharges.
HOW MUCH PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED:
No participation is required. This is an OPTIONAL fundraiser. However, if you participate, we will determine the number of times each participating member will work when we know how many participating members there are. The amount of times each participating member is required to work is based on the number of families participating in the corn dog stand fundraiser and the number of events that we have to cover. [For example, if your dancer is only participating only in PRIMARY dances then you will need to work 4 shifts. If your dancer is participating in PRIMARY dances and two SECONDARY dances, then you would need to work 6 shifts (4 to cover all PRIMARY dances and 1 for each SECONDARY dance)] The actual number of shifts is decided when we know the number of participating dancers and the number of PRIMARY/SECONDARY dances they are participating in.
The average shift is 3-4 hours in duration.
If you work all of your designated number of shifts you get a 100% discount on Group Dances, If you can only work half of your designated number of shifts, then you get a 50% discount on Group Dances, etc. [For Example, if you are designated to work 9 shifts and only work 6 shifts, then your discount is 67%. THE NUMBER OF WORKED SHIFTS / NUMBER OF REQUIRED SHIFTS = DISCOUNT ON GROUP DANCES.] Any of these discounts apply only until the total corn dog revenue for the season runs out. [For Example, If the corn dog stands profits $30,000, then the discounts are applied until the $30,000 runs out.] After that, you are responsible for all of your competition fees.
OTHER NOTES:
The events that we have planned are in the surrounding areas like Morris, Channahon, Minooka, Coal City, Joliet, Braidwood, South Wilmington, etc. You choose the events you want to participate in by signing up on our Sign Up Genius. This is an excellent fundraiser that helps all of the parents get to know each other.
Anyone who signs up to work a shift in the corn dog stand should be healthy enough to work. If you’re sick or injured please find a replacement. If you come sick, injured, or unable to work you may be asked to go home without credit for the shift.
Jeff Simpson is in charge of the signup and shifts. Jewel Buttry is in charge of each event.
