What Stays on Your Device:
The only data related to Form Filler is what YOU choose to save:
- Custom field names you create

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

DATA STORAGE
Local Storage Only
All data is stored using the browser's built-in chrome.storage.local API, which means:
- Data stays on your device
- No cloud synchronization

- Send data to any servers
- Use any backend infrastructure
- Connect to any APIs (except browser APIs)
- Upload anything to the cloud

PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
Form Filler requests the following browser permissions. Here's exactly why:
1. storage Permission
Why: To save your custom field data locally in your browser so it persists across sessions.
What it accesses: Only data you enter in Form Filler's settings.
What it does NOT access: Any other browser data, browsing history, or data from other extensions.
2. contextMenus Permission
Why: To create the right-click menu that displays your saved fields.
What it accesses: Nothing - this only creates menu items.
What it does NOT access: Page content, browsing data, or personal information.
3. activeTab Permission
Why: To access the currently active browser tab ONLY when you right-click and select a paste action.
What it accesses: Only the specific input field you right-clicked on, and only when you trigger a paste action.
What it does NOT access: Background tabs, browsing history, or page content outside the form field. The extension only writes data you explicitly choose to paste and never reads or collects page content.
4. scripting Permission
Why: To insert your saved data into form fields when you select from the context menu.
What it accesses: Working with activeTab, this permission allows the extension to inject code ONLY into the currently active tab and ONLY when you explicitly trigger a paste action.
What it does NOT access: The extension cannot automatically run scripts, cannot access tabs in the background, and cannot read or collect any page content. Scripts only execute when YOU click the context menu item.

DATA SECURITY
Security Measures:
1. Input Validation: Form Filler includes security features to block dangerous patterns:
• Social Security Numbers (completely blocked)
• Script injections (XSS attacks)
• SQL injection patterns
• Command injection attempts
• Malicious code
• 500 character limit per field
2. Local-Only Storage: All data stays on your device in encrypted browser storage.
3. No Transmission: Data never leaves your browser, eliminating transmission-related security risks.
4. User Control: You can view, edit, and delete all data at any time through the Settings page.
What You Should Know:
Form Filler blocks SSNs, but we still recommend NOT storing highly sensitive data like:
- Passwords
- Credit card numbers
- Bank account information
- Medical records

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Form Filler does NOT use any third-party services, including:

• Delete individual fields using the "Remove" button
• Clear all data using the "Clear All Data" button
• Uninstall the extension to remove all data
Data Retention:
- Data is stored indefinitely until you delete it or uninstall the extension
- When you uninstall, all data is automatically deleted by the browser
- No data is retained by us (because it was never sent to us)
