Starting Thursday, March 19, 2020 until further notice, University of South Florida mail and packages will be received, sorted, and held at campus receiving locations for pickup by authorized department personnel. This will prevent delivering to empty offices. To pick up mail and packages, the authorized employees must show their USF identification card.

A completed Mail Service Document must accompany all mail that the USF Post Office is requested to pick up and is destined for the U.S. Postal Service. A Mail Service Document is a form used for requesting postal services and billing.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and the Selective Service System (SSS) has an Interagency Agreement, whereby USPS agrees to facilitate Selective Service registrations at all classified post offices, stations, and branches. SSS reimburses USPS for its participation in this ongoing program at post offices.

Magnetic tapes, containing all information keyed from the registration cards, are produced for processing by the computer center. The registration records go through a series of computer validation checks resulting in either registration or placement onto a computerized error file. If the computer accepts all the information, the registrant is issued an acknowledgment of registration. If an error is detected at any point in processing the information is reprocessed or a letter is sent to the registrant requesting clarification.

All processing follows a published schedule. The time required to process a registration, from the date the registration form is completed at the post office, to the date the acknowledgment of registration is generated, averages approximately four weeks. Regulations and mobilization readiness require that processing take no more than 90 days.

The Domestic and International metered mail forms are used by Vanderbilt University departments who wish VU Mail Services to apply meter postage to outgoing USPS mail. The authorizing/sending department is charged by VU Mail Services for the meter postage to process their mail.

1. Departments will need to have the person responsible for preparing mail download both the domestic and international metered mail forms to their computer desktop. You may also want to designate a back up person for this task. You will need Adobe Acrobat version 7 or higher to use these forms. If you do not have version 7 or higher, there is a free upgrade available.

3. Please read the directions on the forms and fill them out completely. As you enter the departmental charge account number, the form will automatically build a scanable bar code onto the form. Mail Services will scan this code into the metering machine as we process your mail. This is how we will charge your department for postage used.

7. International mail sent over with a domestic metered mail form may be processed as domestic mail. If so it will go out and be promptly returned to us from the USPS because of insufficient postage, which will delay your mail piece(s).

The collection of information on this Processing Acknowledgement Form (PAF) is required by the Privacy Act of 1974. Patrons will need to weigh and measure their package. Customers can print their electronic customs form on regular printer paper. The post office has clear envelopes that will hold the form and affix it to the parcel.

Patrons whose Click-N-Ship transactions are blocked by fraud prevention software, which is common for overseas users, may request to be added to the exceptions list, or white list, at the post office. The clerk will need the patron's Click-N-Ship email address and account number, which is located in the top right corner of the "Shipping history" page on the Click-N-Ship website. Once submitted, USPS headquarters will typically add users to their white list within 72 business hours.

United States Postal Service delivers all mail to patrons residing on Marine Corps Base Housing Units. Mailbox keys are distributed by Marine Corps Base Housing office directly. Point of Contact for the Housing Office is: 703-432-8500. If you lost your Mailbox key or need replacement there will be a fee of $30 at the United States Post Office.

PLEASE NOTE: Effective 2010, Revenue no longer delivers paper tax forms to area post offices and stores. Personal Income Tax forms are available for photocopying at many Delaware public libraries. Please contact your local library branch for availability.
