NHMS Jazz Band ’26-‘27
The NHMS Jazz Band is starting up again and I hope you will consider joining us.
The Jazz Band exists to provide middle school music students with an opportunity to learn about jazz music and to gain some basic performance skills in this style. Jazz is an original American art form and is a fundamental part of our American culture. Middle school students are at the prime age for learning to play jazz. Students who are hoping to join the High School Jazz Ensemble are strongly encouraged to join the NHMS Jazz Band.
The Jazz Band is open to instrumentalists on the following instruments: trumpet, trombone, french horn, baritone, tuba, saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe, violin, viola (reads treble clef), cello, bass, electric bass, guitar (must have experience and read chords), piano (must have experience and read music), percussion (drums/mallets) ***Percussion players need to understand that students will rotate between drum set, mallets, and auxiliary percussion.
The Jazz Band meets on Thursdays, 2:50 to 3:50 PM in the NHMS band room. Please pick up your student by 4:00pm at the front of school. Be on time picking up your student. Rehearsal dates listed in the chart below.

Attendance
Students are expected to come to all jazz band rehearsals. Please make an effort to avoid scheduling other appointments during jazz band. If you are sick and will be absent, please send me an email. I work in several buildings and am not always aware if a student is out sick. If you have any questions, please contact me at jklamer@fhps.net. I’m looking forward to a great year. -Mr. Klamer
