Meet the teacher

Since I was a young child, I enjoyed learning new things, though not always from my teacher. I set my own pace and sometimes struggled with school and my teachers. It wasn't until years later, while helping my own children with their lessons, that I thought about becoming a teacher. I started college when my youngest child started kindergarten and have never looked back. It has been one of the best decisions of my life. I love seeing the spark in my students' eyes when they "get it," or that look of pride when they accomplish something difficult. This is my 24th year teaching and my 7th enjoying Sutter Middle. While this will be a challenging year with distance learning, I have no doubt we will meet the challenge and come out stronger than ever.

Let's do this, Miners!

Distance Learning

Distance learning will no doubt present numerous challenges for us this year. However, over the past several months while learning about new technology for education, I am optimistic that our students (That’s YOU!) have so much to discover in this new world. I believe advances in technology, generated equitably, will spark greater interest for a whole new generation of inspired students. We have a lot to learn about this new venture in education. I believe we can meet this challenge together!

Zoom norms will follow on Google classroom and added to this site. There will be other rules of etiquette for different platforms and programs we’ll be using. We will go over those together as we go along.
