A Message from our Lodge President

Dear Brother / Sister Law Enforcement Officer:

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE and the UNITED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS LODGE # 17. The Fraternal Order of Police, organized in 1915, over 20,000 members in New York and 325,000 members nationally. It is a fraternal organization known not only nationally, but internationally as well. Each lodge is independent. Members are bonded together by mutual interests, goals and benefits for which this organization stands.

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP 

Active membership in our lodge is open to all armed law enforcement officers who work full-time at the municipal, state or federal level and:

A) Work within the City of New York; or

B) Reside in the City of New York; or

C) Retired honorably and meet the above requirements.

Having a diversified lodge membership of officers from different agencies is important for networking and professional cooperation. Some of the purposes of the United Law Enforcement officers Lodge include:

1) Establishing and maintaining relations with all law enforcement agencies in New York City.

2) Promoting support of law enforcement in New York City.

3) Identifying and recognizing individuals in the government and private sector, who support law enforcement.

As a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, you will receive membership cards from both, the national and state. The national membership card, which is numbered and lists your name, is well recognized throughout the United States. Brother / Sister officers in other states have extended courtesies when this card is produced, which would not have been attained with a local shield and I.D.

In addition, you will receive an "Active Member" national car window decal. These decals are dated and replaced annually. Also, quarterly magazines will be mailed to your home. Other information and benefits are included for annual dues of forty dollars ($ 45.00) for Active members. Please pay your dues on time without a lapse. We must submit dues to the state prior to January 1st to ensure that you are covered by the insurance indicated below, in order to do that we need to receive it not later than 1 December. We also need you to include your date of birth and social security number on the application for insurance purposes.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Associate Members: Civilians who support police officers in their daily task of enforcing the law.Some of the purposes of the United Law Enforcement officers Lodge include:

1) Establishing and maintaining relations with all law enforcement agencies in New York City.

2) Promoting support of law enforcement in New York City.

3) Identifying and recognizing individuals in the government and private sector, who support law enforcement.

As an associate member you will receive membership cards from both, the national and state. The national membership card, which is numbered and lists your name, is well recognized throughout the United States. In addition, you will receive a national FOP car window decal.
