Football has always been more than just a game to me. It has been a defining force in shaping my values, my discipline, and my desire to give back to the next generation. My career as a football coach was never something I stumbled into — it was a path I chose deliberately, rooted in my love for the sport and my belief in its power to transform young lives. Over the years, coaching has given me as much as I’ve given it. This is a look into how my journey as a football coach began and where it has taken me.
Growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, sports played a major role in my life. I wasn’t always the most talented athlete on the field, but I was one of the most determined. That determination taught me that effort, focus, and integrity could often outshine raw talent. Those lessons stayed with me, and years later, they became the foundation of my coaching philosophy.
I began my coaching career at the community level, working with youth programs and high school teams. I quickly realized that coaching wasn’t just about teaching football plays or drawing up strategies. It was about building trust, earning respect, and helping young athletes develop character. Many of the players I’ve coached over the years have gone on to pursue successful careers—some in football, others in different walks of life—but all of them left the field with a stronger sense of self and purpose.
One of the biggest rewards of coaching is witnessing growth. Not just physical or athletic growth, but emotional and mental development. I’ve seen shy kids become confident leaders, and undisciplined players grow into responsible young men. Football, when coached correctly, teaches accountability, perseverance, and teamwork. And when I see a player carry those traits beyond the game, I know I’ve done my job.
Throughout my coaching career, I’ve prioritized structure and consistency. I believe in tough love—setting high expectations and holding players to them, but also being there when they fall short and helping them rise again. I’ve never been one to sugarcoat the truth, and my players appreciate that. They know that I’ll push them hard, but always with their best interests at heart.
Salt Lake City has been both my home and my coaching ground. There is a unique spirit in the athletes here—a grit that reflects the community itself. Being able to coach in this city has been a privilege, and I’m grateful for every opportunity I’ve had to contribute to local sports and mentorship programs.
As I look ahead, my coaching goals remain the same: to build disciplined, resilient athletes who value teamwork and integrity. Whether it’s preparing a team for a championship or mentoring a young player through a personal challenge, I see each moment as a chance to make a difference. Coaching is not just a profession for me — it’s a lifelong mission.
To the young athletes I coach and to the parents who trust me with their children, I say thank you. The journey continues, and I look forward to helping shape the next generation of champions—both on and off the field.
