I can only talk about Foodora, and the work with Foodora is very simple. Of course, you can get a bit more responsibility. With Foodora, you belong to a team with, I think, 15 riders, and every team has their captain rider. And when you become a captain rider, you have more responsibility. For example, you get more hours because you can work at the office.

Since riders use their private bikes for food delivery, foodora contributes to the repair costs for bike parts. Riders get a 0,25 Euro credit per kilometre that can be used at several partner repair shops, or for the online purchase of spare parts.

The employment contracts, whether office employees or riders, generally start with a limited time period. These contracts are usually transferred into permanent contracts after expiry of this period. Note: the vast majority of our riders prefer to work part-time.

The so-called gig economy usually describes employment relationships in which people are not permanent employees with social security, but supposedly self-employed freelancers of digital operators. For foodora Germany, please check E as in Employment.

The compensation for foodora riders lies above German statutory minimum wage and starts at 9 Euro per hour. Maximum is 12 Euro per hour, depending on performance criteria. Of course, riders can keep all tips they receive, which adds an average of 1 or 2 Euro per order.

Foodora's contention that Mr Klooger was not an employee because he was sub-contracting work and swapping shifts with other riders had operated with its knowledge. Commissioner Cambridge said this arrangement had resulted in a "bizarre position whereby Foodora effectively sanctioned the work that it had previously forbidden".

Transport Workers Union representative Tony Sheldon, who is standing for election as a Labor Senator at next year's federal election, said riders had no choice but to accept the $3 million towards Foodora's debts to avoid waiting indefinitely to retrieve their entitlements.

The administrator estimated workers had been underpaid $5.5 million based on its conclusion "that it is more likely than not that the delivery riders and drivers should have been classified as casual employees instead of contractors".

Voluntary administrator Worrell's Simon Cathro said the creditors' vote to take the $3 million offer meant that once the deed had been executed, "creditors including riders that have now been classified as employees will have their claims against the company accessed and can participate in a distribution to creditors."

You have to be a Danish citizen or have a valid work- and residence permit to work as a foodora rider in Denmark. You can see the requirements below. It is your own responsibility to make sure that you have the right documents in order. In case you are in doubt, please follow the links listed below to find more information. You will need to upload different information in the sign up process depending on your nationality.

If you are a citizen from a country outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland, you must apply for a residence and work permit before you enter Denmark. You can read more about how to apply HERE.

Citizens from the Nordic countries, the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are entitled to live and work in Denmark. However, if you are an EU/EEA or Swiss citizen and intend to reside in Denmark for more than three months, you must apply for an EU residence document. Read more about it HERE.

Before you start working as a foodora rider, it is very important that you double check what type of residence permit you have. The type of your residence permit is decisive for when and how much you are able to work as a foodora rider.

If you are a citizen of a country outside the Nordic region, an EU / EEA country or Switzerland, you must have a valid work permit before you can work in Denmark. A work permit may contain restrictions.

It is important that you note when your work permit expires and that you make sure to get the permit extended as the expiration date approaches. If you do not get the permit extended and notify us at [email protected], your contract will be automatically terminated on the day your work permit expires.

foodora regularly double-checks your work and residence permit to ensure that you comply with your rights, but it is equally your own responsibility to ensure that you do not break your permit, as this may result in a police report. If you do not comply with your permission, your cooperation with foodora will end with immediate effect.

When you sign up as a foodora rider, you choose which primary vehicle you would like to ride with. The vehicle you sign up with matters in terms of which shifts are available to you. If you want to use both your bike and car, please write an e-mail to us at [email protected], so we can register this in our system. If you are registered with both vehicles, it is just important that you only take shifts after the vehicle that you want to use in connection with the delivery - and that you check in the app with the right vehicle when you have a shift. 2351a5e196
