Wages have remained near stagnant in past years when inflation is factored in. This only leads to more dependence on these programs.

Current assistance after the "Big Beautiful Bill" has been shown to average out to $187/month per person, or $6.16/day per person for groceries.

Our proposed changes include:

• Fewer restrictions on who is considered a household dependent (first-hand accounts of denial to step-children)

• Less frequent re-certification processes (currently every 6-12 months, which we see as just another hurdle in a historically low-frauded program)

• NEW (BBB) work requirements should be undone (past temporary waivers for veterans, the homeless, and foster youth were removed)
