Wages have remained near stagnant in past years when inflation is factored in. This only leads to more dependence on these programs.
Federal $7.25/hr min wage has remained since 2009Â
Current assistance after the "Big Beautiful Bill" has been shown to average out to $187/month per person, or $6.16/day per person for groceries.
Our proposed changes include:
Fewer restrictions on who is considered a household dependent (first-hand accounts of denial to step-children)
Less frequent re-certification processes (currently every 6-12 months, which we see as just another hurdle in a historically low-frauded program)
NEW (BBB) work requirements should be undone (past temporary waivers for veterans, the homeless, and foster youth were removed)
