JoyPixels can be easily installed via Magisk but I ran into problems changing the One UI emojis without root. I downloaded the JoyPixels 6.6 ttf from their official site but it changes the numbers systemwide and makes the spaces huge, as shown here. So I've been looking for a way to change Facebook Messenger's ugly set of emojis for a long time now. I tried decompiling the app to find and change its emoji, but sadly didn't work. Until few minutes later, an idea came up. Because whenever I reinstall the app, the emoji looks small, and it only updates and look normal whenever I connect to a wifi for a bit and restart the app (Cause I always use mobile data). So I was thinking maybe it downloads the emoji through wifi only, just like how they do those server-side updates. Then I looked at the root folder and find the app's data. So I found the emoji there and it's located at Root: data/user/0/com.facebook.orca/files/emoji_fonts.default.latest/storage/FacebookEmoji.ttf

When there are more than one emoji fonts installed, different apps use different fonts:

e.g. Segoe Emoji (seguiemj.ttf) is used by the Wire desktop App by default, Emoji One (emojione-android.ttf) is used by Evolution by default on my Ubuntu 20.04 system.

While for example emoji-keyboard can only insert the emoji characters directly into Gtk applications and otherwise is restricted to copying them into the clipboard.
