While it's true that opinion rewards sends out surveys where the results are anonymized, there's still a significant amount of surveys which says the response would be tied to the account and they ask for lots of personal information like "age range", "how often do you travel", etc.

What are your thoughts on Google Opinion rewards? Why do or don't you use it? Is there any way to avoid not getting or not answering the surveys tied to your account (I don't seem to get surveys if I don't)? Is there anyway to go in an delete this info using the Google Account manager? Ideally, I'd like to answer the anonymous surveys and not answer any surveys tied to my account.

It asked if I had been to any place on the list and I obviously just walked out of Chick-fil-a. It asked how I paid and then asked if I would take a picture of the receipt to help them better their surveys. I did and that was that. Got $.34 out of it but they've never asked me to take a picture before.

I have done and sometimes still do surveys for rewards. But the rewards I have chosen have usually been shopping vouchers. I first did this in the early 2000s during an extended period of unemployment. Frankly it is a lot of effort for very meagre rewards. After doing hours worth of surveys over a period of months, I would get a $50 shopping voucher. But since I was out of work at the time it seemed worth it. In hindsight it felt like something I could control, unlike the job market.

Apparently, this information will be used to enhance their services, personalize the ads you see, and gain insights into shopping behavior to provide more relevant surveys. While earning extra rewards points is appealing, I find the trade off a bit unnerving. Luckily, this is optional, but we are seeing more and more of these exchanges between Google and its users over the past few years.Newsletter SignupEach New PostDealsDaily DigestWeekly DigestGamingPromos & GiveawaysRelatedFiled Under: Apps, New & Upcoming FeaturesAbout Michael PerrigoKnown as "Google Mike" to his customers, Michael worked at Best Buy as a Chromebook Expert who dedicated his time to understanding the user experience from a regular Chromebook owner's perspective.
