Followscope ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you track follower and following changes on Instagram accounts you choose to scan. This policy describes how we collect, handle, store, and share user data.
1. Data collection
We collect only the data needed to provide the extension’s features:
Your Instagram identity (when you scan): The Instagram username and user ID of the account you are logged into in the browser where you use the extension. We obtain this only when you are on instagram.com and you start a scan.
- **Scan targets:** The Instagram username and user ID of the profile whose followers/following you choose to scan.
- **Follower and following lists:** For each scan you run, we collect the list of usernames and user IDs returned by Instagram for the followers and/or following lists you request (e.g. followers list, following list, or both). We do not access any other Instagram data (messages, posts, etc.).
- **Scan metadata:** The type of scan (followers, following, or both) and the time of each scan.
We do not collect your Instagram password, email, or phone number. Data is collected only when you use the extension on Instagram and initiate a scan.

## 2. How we use your data (handling)
We use the data we collect only to:
- **Provide the extension:** Store your scan history and compute changes (e.g. who unfollowed, who you started following) between scans.
- **Show your history:** Display your scanned accounts, past scans, and diffs in the extension popup and in the optional dashboard.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the extension as described.

## 3. Storage
- **Where:** Data is stored in a cloud database (Supabase) that we use to run the extension. Scan results, account identifiers, and computed diffs are stored there so they persist across browser sessions and so you can view history in the extension and dashboard.
- **Retention:** We retain your data for as long as you use the extension. If you want your data removed, you can contact us (see Contact below) and we will delete it.
- **Security:** Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to the database is restricted to the extension and our backend; we do not expose your data to the public internet.
4. Sharing
- We do not sell your data.** We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.
- We do not share your data for advertising.** Your data is not shared with advertisers or used for ad targeting.-Service provider:** Data is stored with Supabase (supabase.com), which hosts our database. Supabase processes data on our behalf under their terms and privacy practices. We do not allow them to use your data for their own marketing or advertising.
- **Legal:** We may disclose data if required by law (e.g. subpoena, court order) or to protect our or others’ rights and safety.
We do not share your data with any other third parties except as described above.
## 5. Your choices and rights
- **Control what is scanned:** You decide which Instagram profiles to scan; we only process data for scans you start.
- **Uninstall:** If you uninstall the extension, we will no longer collect new data. Existing data in our database will remain unless you request deletion.
- **Deletion:** To request deletion of your data, contact us using the details below. We will delete your account and associated scans, scan entries, and diffs.

## 7. Changes to this policy
