Zoomed. You get what you pay for. Like Christy said, there has been issues with the zilla lights, no it may not be with the type that you are after, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Plus, if I remember correctly, zilla lights need changed every 6 months due to the UVB fading, while zoomed says to change yearly. I have maybe bought one zilla light, and it blew out pretty quickly. I have been keeping turtles for 5ish years, changing my zoomed bulbs every 9ish months, and still have every single bulb I have ever purchased still working and stored for back ups.

They are expensive in stores, look online. I buy mine from LLL Reptile Supply or That Fish Place and never have an issue and get them sooo much cheaper, the one time I did have a bulb shipped to me they sent me a new one right away and I got it before I was able to send the broken one back. I am not sure how much they are where you are, but why spend ~20 bucks for a zilla that needs changed within 6 months, and has had known health issues with animals, when you could get a zoomed one for that price online or roughly 10 bucks more in stores and have it last twice as long. There is a reason why when you go to petsmart or petco and zilla lights are like 20-25 bucks and zoomeds are 50. They are just like every other product, lights are made cheaply, and the cheaper ones to buy aren't jacked up in price at corperate pet stores as the quality made ones are.

I'm mainly inquering about the FIXTURE and not the bulb. If i get the zilla fixture/bulb combo and replace the bulb with a zoomed brand in 6 months i will have saved money over buying the zoomed AND another $30 for the bulb right off the start.

I thought you were asking, "why you pretty much get a free light fixture from zilla if you buy their fixture, is there something wrong with their product?" So my answer would still be: the bulbs are not any where as good in quality, which myself, would spend the extra money to get the reptisun for the sake of my animal. However, I wouldn't buy a price jacked fixture from either zilla or zoo med, they are way over priced, especially from places like petsmart, when you could find them cheaper at walmart or any home hardware store as mentioned above. I would also buy the lights from a cheaper source.
