As the name suggests, a softphone is the technology that allows you to make phone calls without the need for telephone hardware. Instead, you can make a call using software installed on your existing mobile devices or desktop computers. To make a call, open the software on your device, use a headset, and connect to the internet.

With softphones, you can offer all the functionality of regular landline desk phones, along with a range of added VoIP capabilities (auto-attendant, voicemail, video conferencing, etc.) that are accessible via a user-friend interface.

As part of a unified communications solution, softphone software is great for organizations, as it eliminates the need for desk phones and other traditional hardware such as fax machines and hard phones. Instead, you can use a cloud-based virtual business phone system on your mobile device or computer that provides advanced features and functionality for your business that promotes efficiency and productivity.

Why is the softphone attractive for remote workers? You're not tied to chunky hardware as you work from anywhere. With softphone software, you can install it on any internet-enabled mobile device, such as a laptop, tablet, or phone. But the beauty of the RingCentral app is it's not limited to phone calls. You can also send and receive messages, fax, and SMS. You can also host and join video meetings instantly.

Software application integrations are increasingly important, too. You want your softphone to work with the apps that your business is already using. The RingCentral App has hundreds of integrations with popular business and productivity apps like Google Workplace, Microsoft Teams and Office 36g, Salesforce, Servicenow, Zendesk, and more. If you have your own apps, RingCentral has APIs that lets you customize how you want to integrate RingCentral into your process and workflows.

With a RingCentral softphone app, you can record a single call, or change your settings to automatically record all your calls.* You can also download recorded conversations, store them on your computer, or forward them to others for review.

I have a laptop and a desktop that I use depending on where I am located for business. In the current process I have to deauthorize one machine to take calls from my other. I would like to have the ability to have the softphones both authorized and ring when that device is on and the app logged into.. This way I as a user simply need to log into the authorized softphone I need to use and not have to change the configurations around each time.I do not want to have to deauthorize the PC every time I switch computers.

The next screen contains the SIP registration details. There is no need to make any changes. Copy this information to use when configuring Q-SYS Softphone in the next section.Note: Although multiple outbound proxies are available for selection, SIP10.ringcentral.com or SIP20.ringcentral.com are the ones to use for North America when configuring Q-SYS Softphone.

Q: Which RingCentral app does your integration works best with?

A: The integration was originally developed for RingCentral's softphone desktop and mobile apps. It should work okay with the latest RC unified app.

Nutshell will launch the RingCentral for Windows or for Mac app on your computer and you'll be prompted to confirm whether or not you want to make the call. You'll need to have an existing phone/softphone and phone number with RingCentral for this feature to work.

Need your advice.

I have an issue right now with a couple of users in our company. We are using RingCentral softphone and it is working fine last week.

Today, we received reports from around 30 users who are working from home that their RC phones cannot hear anything when they tried to call or someone tried to call them. The calls can connect but they cannot hear each other.

The issue is only present when user is connected to the AnyConnect VPN. But when user disconnects from VPN, the RC has two way audio.

The pain in my tshoot was it is not happening to all users.. I saw one thing common on the affected users, they are using the same account domain on RingCentral account, example, abcd.com - all these users that uses abcd.com account on their RC are experiencing the issue.

But for some users that are not affected, example users who are using wxyz.com RingCentral account are not impacted.

Hope you could give me an advice guys!

Thank you,

Carlo

RingCentral MVP is a full-featured, cloud VoIP PBX based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). This means it supports a wide range of desktop SIP phones. However, with an increasing number of people working from home these days, it may be more efficient and convenient to deploy RingCentral's softphone apps that are available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

The softphone apps provide many features that traditional SIP desk phones don't. For example, in recent versions, RingCentral placed a lot of focus on its video capabilities. The newer product does away with past dependence on Zoom for video conferencing by incorporating advanced features, such as closed captioning, audio transcription, and the ability to share your screen while in a 1-to-1, group, or team conversation.

These are all welcome enhancements to what was already a top platform. In fact, we'd rank RingCentral's softphone offerings right up there with Dialpad and other vendors that focus primarily on softphones. 2351a5e196
