I am of the fellowship of joy
Jesus is my joy
For he is as my friend, lover, savior
The father is my joy
For he is my creator, master, king
The spirit is my joy
For he is my helper, comforter, guide
The church is my joy
For they are, my family, body, brotherhood
With Jesus, the father, the spirit, the church
My joy is complete
My purpose is sure
My needs are met
This is my joy, but the world is still broken.
There is still loss, pain, death.
This is my joy, but I am still broken.
I still doubt, fear, sin.
But this is the present, really, a feeling
But my joy is also a fact, rooted in the past
For I am forgiven, the war has been won.
And my joy is a hope of a future to be
A hope of a home of perfect rest
A hope of perfect worship of perfect love
A hope of a place where I truly belong
A hope of a faith made sight
My joy is a fact, a feeling, a hope
This is my creed, my calling, my choice
Will you join the fellowship of joy?

Fellowship of Joy was written while I was reflecting on what it means to live a life of joy even while the circumstances around us don't necessarily lend to feelings of joy.
