As a young child, I was enchanted with going to my Great Aunt Mary's house with my mother and watching them do genealogy research. I was already interested in history at the tender age of four. Through the years, my mother and I would often talk of genealogy and when I had children of my own, my interest only grew.
After a nine year stint in the US Army, I became a Police Officer and then a Detective for a period of time while on the police department. I had to make a life-altering decision to leave my chosen career when it was found that my mother had a debilitating disease and needed care. Upon returning home, I realized how similar the research of genealogy was to what I had been doing the last 13 years. With the advent of technology, things seemed to be falling into place to really delve into my family genealogy again. All of this has led Jessie and I to this business, "From Our Family to Yours".
I was in the fourth grade when, I was given a genealogy project in school. My Grandma Mary assisted me greatly with my father's family history and provided many family photos dating back to the turn of the century. It was these photos that sparked my love of old homes and vintage clothing. Later, my interests in homes and clothing, morphed into genealogy. I really feel that genealogy fills my old soul.
Scott and my mother had moved into a very old home, which we were told was the town's first doctors office. This intrigued me so, I dove in finding out 3 generations of his family lived there. Shortly after completing that project, I dove into my husband's family history and with the help of DNA, was able to find his biological father. While visiting with Scott and my mother, Scott and I talked about assisting other families in researching their family histories. It was at this time that "From Our Family to Yours" was born.
