To record the 'formal' lesson observation which is undertaken by the mentor once per week.
Completed once a week by the mentor when observing a specific class/activity/lesson. The lesson to be observed is discussed and agreed in advance with the trainee.
Records the trainee's development in their practice of teaching and learning, identifies opportunities they need to engage with to develop further.
On the PGDE/Post-14 course includes the ETF Professional Standards for ease of reference.

To record trainee progress over the course of the placement and anything not already covered on the Weekly Development Summary.
Completed at the end of the introductory, development, and consolidation placement/ Also completed at the interim point on the consolidation placement.
Records anything not covered on the Weekly Development Summary plus the opportunities needed for the trainee to develop.
Allows mentor to indicate if trainee is making sufficient progress to proceed or if further support is needed.
