Welcome to FocusLock! This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our mobile application. We built FocusLock as an offline-first tool, meaning your privacy is respected by design.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

FocusLock currently operates as an offline-first application. All data you generate while using the app is stored entirely locally on your device. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Focus Sessions & Study Hours: The duration, subjects, and timestamps of your focus sessions.

• Challenges & Habits: Information about the challenges you start, your check-ins, success/fail logs, and temptation rescue attempts.

• Daily Check-ins: Your self-reported mood, temptation levels, and any personal notes you write.

• Settings & Preferences: Your customized app settings, notification preferences, and themes.

Because this data is stored locally (using standard local storage like shared_preferences), it is not transmitted to our servers or any third-party databases. You have complete control over this data and can clear it at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings or via the app's settings menu (if available).

2. Information We Do Not Collect

• Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not require you to create an account, nor do we collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.

• Usage Data & Analytics: In its current version, FocusLock does not integrate with any remote analytics or crash reporting services that transmit usage behavior over the internet.

• Location Data: We do not track or request your GPS or location data.

3. Permissions

To function correctly, FocusLock may request certain device permissions:

• Notifications: We use local notifications to remind you of your challenges or motivation quotes. These are scheduled and fired locally on your device; they do not rely on push notification servers.

• Usage Access / Accessibility (Android App Blocker): To enforce app blocking, the app may request permission to see what applications are running on your screen. This information is used strictly in real-time on your device to block distractions and is never collected, stored, or transmitted.

4. Advertisements and Third-Party Services

Advertising Our application may display advertisements served by third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdMob or similar services). These third-party networks may collect and use information about you to provide personalized ads. The information collected by ad networks may include:

• Device Information: Such as your IP address, device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID or Apple IDFA).

• Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the app and the ads.

• Location Data: Non-precise location data to serve geographically relevant ads.

These third-party ad networks use tracking technologies (like cookies or beacons) to recognize your device across different applications and websites. We do not have control over the data collected by these third-party ad networks. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policies of the advertising partners we use. You can typically opt-out of personalized advertising through your device's settings (e.g., "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android or "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS).

Other Third-Party Services Currently, aside from advertising, FocusLock does not utilize other third-party cloud services (like Firebase or Supabase), cloud backups, AI APIs, or payment processors. If future versions introduce optional cloud features, we will update this Privacy Policy and clearly request your consent before any non-ad-related data leaves your device.

5. Data Security

The security of your personal information is important to us. Since all your data remains on your device, its security relies on your device's built-in security features (such as passcode lock, biometric authentication, and device encryption). We recommend keeping your device secured to protect your local data.

6. Children's Privacy

Our application does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
