Privacy Policy for FocalGym

This Privacy Policy explains how FocalGym ("FocalGym," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use the FocalGym mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

• We use the front (TrueDepth) camera only for real-time eye-training features. Face data is never recorded, stored, transmitted, or shared — it is processed on your device only.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name / username. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address and name those services provide. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication.

Training and app data

To provide your progress, streaks, achievements, and leaderboards, we store data you generate in the App, including: training session history and scores, daily/weekly challenge results, experience points and level, unlocked achievements and themes, and your app settings. Your username together with your score and level may appear on in-app leaderboards visible to other signed-in users.

Device information

We store a device name and a randomly generated device identifier to manage the "2-device" pairing feature and associated limits. This identifier is not used for advertising and is not linked to any third-party tracking.

Subscription information

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We store a record of whether your account is in a free trial or has an active subscription.

Face and camera data (TrueDepth API)

FocalGym uses the front (TrueDepth) camera and Apple's ARKit face tracking solely to: detect blinks (to remind you to blink), measure your distance from the screen, and power distance-based training modes such as "Distance Ladder" and "Near-Far Switch." This face data is processed in real time on your device only. It is never recorded, stored, transmitted off your device, or shared with us or any third party. We do not use face data for identification, advertising, or any purpose other than the real-time training features described above.

Health data (Apple Health / HealthKit)

If you choose to enable "Sync to Apple Health" in Settings, FocalGym writes your completed training sessions to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes. We only write this data to Apple Health; we do not read any data from Apple Health. Health data is stored by Apple in the Health app under your control and is not transmitted to us or to any third party. Health data is never used for advertising or shared, and is not used for any purpose other than logging your sessions to Apple Health. You can disable this at any time in Settings or in the Apple Health app.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and maintain your account and authenticate you.

• Save and display your training progress, streaks, achievements, and leaderboards.

• Provide the camera-based eye-training features (on-device only).

• Manage subscriptions, free trials, and device limits.

• Log Mindful Minutes to Apple Health when you enable that feature.

• Maintain the security and integrity of the App.

How Your Information Is Stored and Shared

Your account and training data are stored using Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Firebase Realtime Database). Firebase processes this data on our behalf as a service provider. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

We use the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the App.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account and training data for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App (Account → Delete Account). Deleting your account removes your stored training data, profile, and leaderboard entry. Data already written to Apple Health remains under your control in the Apple Health app and can be removed there.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including the security controls provided by Firebase, to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

FocalGym is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these rights directly in the App, or by contacting us at the email below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date, and significant changes may be communicated within the App.
