History of FM Scholarship

The Fall 2019 Initiates (Family Matters) of The Nu Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated., are pleased to announce the Third Annual Family Matters Scholarship. This scholarship was composed to extend a supplemental resource to a superlative female high school senior. Commencing January 30, 2023 , two grants in the amount of $1,000 and $500 will be awarded to an honorable female student for the utilization of academic costs. To be eligible for the Family Matters Scholarship, one must be an African-American female with an overall grade point average of 3.0. Additionally, it is required that the applicant be matriculating into an accredited four year college or university.

Since our founding in 1908 at Howard University in Washington, DC, one of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s principles are to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards.
