Mapping Schizophrenic Brain

I majored in biomedical engineering in my college (UESTC). In the sophomore year, I went to "MOE Key Lab for Neuroinformation" leaded by Prof. Huafu Chen, where I found my interest in studying psychiatric disorders using in-vivo non-invasive imaging technology like Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). After I got my bachelor's degree in UESTC, I could directly continue my study as a doctoral for excellent grades.

During these five years, I discovered some interesting findings about neural mechanism underlying schizophrenia based on MRI and functional MRI data. Patients' abnormalities were observed in both white matter and grey matter large-scale functional organization, as well as brain structure. My findings support two overarching hypotheses: the dysconnection hypothesis and the neurodevelopmental hypothesis of schizophrenia.

Now I'm focusing on discovering the genetic basis of brain structure and function abnormalities of schizoprenia, so I'm doing a visiting research with Dr. Sofie Louise Valk (https://cng-lab.github.io) at Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences.
